Son Goku is the main hero of the entire Dragon
Ball story. He was discovered by
an old man name Son Gohan (also the name of Goku's 1st son) and adopted as a
grandson. However, Son Goku was quite unruly, and never listened to a word Gohan
said. One day, he fell into a ravine and hit his head, and from there on, he was
a kind, loving child. Son Goku began his journey when he was a small boy who
happened upon a teenage girl named Bulma (She just happened to hit him with her
car!!). From there on, his adventures brought him many new discoveries, and many
ferocious battles. The Dragon Ball series ended after Goku defeated Piccolo
Daimo. In Dragon Ball Z, Goku discovers that he is really a Saiyan, an alien
species known for their deeds of evil. This marks the beginning of the Saiyan Saga, as Goku must face his own brother Raditz who has come to earth to check on
Goku's progress. Raditz explains to Goku that he was sent to Earth as an infant
with the mission of exterminating all life, thus preparing the planet for sale
with Frieza. Because Goku hit his head when he was small, he lost the Saiyan
"programming," making him a peace loving person. From here, Goku battles Raditz,
Nappa, Vegeta, Frieza and the Ginyu, the androids, Cell, and lastly Boo. Son
Goku is the first person to turn Super Saiyan levels 1,2,3,and 4, while he also
knows of the Fusion Dance, the famed Kamehameha, Kaioken, Spirit Bomb, and a teleportation technique called Shunkanidou, along with other
numerous abilities.
