Immortality

The only way for someone to become immortal is trough the Dragon Balls. Emporer Pilaf was the first to get all seven dragon balls and have the chance to wish for Immortality but he did not become immortal because Oolong got on the way and wished for a pair of underwear. Many tried to get immortal but they failed. Frieza was the one who wanted to get immortal the most but he never got his Immortality thanks to Goku and the other Z fighters. Garlic Jr. was immortal in the Garlic Jr Saga because his planet Makio Star gave him immortality.

The only way to defeat Garlic Jr. is to trap him in the dead zone and by destroying his planet so that he would never be able to come back since he is immortal. Garlic Jr. was trapped in his Dead Zone and than Gohan destroyed his planet. Below is a list of characters who tried to get immortality with the Dragon Balls.
